Burnt Offerings by Laurell K. Hamilton

This is the seventh book in the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series that I read in a previous year.

Published: 1998

Genre: urban fantasy

Length: 392 pages

Setting: Saint Louis, soon after the events of The Killing Dance

Summary: In her professional life, Blake is asked to look into a series of arsons that seem to be linked to a pyrokinetic. At the same time, the wereleopards and werewolves are having leadership problems. Also, the Vampire Council has come to investigate Jean-Claude. They worry that Jean-Claude is setting up his own Council since he won’t join their council. Anita, Richard and Jean-Claude have to work together to keep their people safe.

Final thoughts: I have a hard time putting the Anita Blake books down once I start. Anita is getting herself deeper into the supernatural world and deeper into a relationship with both Richard and Jean-Claude. We’re inching ever closer to the sexy parts of the series.

Reading challenges fulfilled: none since this is a review of a book read in a previous year
