What I Will Be Reading #11

I’m adding books based on The Modern Mrs. Darcy again. This time, it’s her Summer Reading Guide that has me adding books to my reading list. She provided five titles in seven genres. Here’s what intrigued me off her list of suggestions.

The Funeral Dress: A Novel by Susan Gregg Gilmore. I’m adding this one mainly because her description says its for fans of Barbara Kingsolver (who I love).

The Time In Between: A Novel by Maria Duenas. A female spy operating in the Spanish Civil War – sounds intriguing!

The Remedy: Robert Koch, Arthur Conan Doyle, and the Quest to Cure Tuberculosis by Thomas Goetz. I’ve read a couple other science nonfiction books that follow a single disease or part of science and loved them. She states this is a must read for anyone who liked The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, which I did. I’ll have to get that review up one of these days.

And finally, Creativity, Inc.: Overcoming the Unseen Forces That Stand in the Way of True Inspiration by Ed Catmull. I’ve seen this book recommended in several places for people who are interested in Pixar (check) and how creativity can be fostered (check).

There are many other books Mrs. Darcy is recommending this year. I’ve read two on her list – Bel Canto, the very first book I reviewed on this blog, and Unbroken. Since I liked both of those quite well, I’m looking forward to these new books as well! What about you – put any good books on your reading list lately?
