Weekly Wrap-Up: Nouns and Adjectives

We’re continuing our study of words and women. On the words side, we did nouns and adjectives with the Words are CATegorical series. This included A Mink, a Fink, a Skating Rink: What Is a Noun? and Hairy, Scary, Ordinary: What Is an Adjective? by Brian P. Clearly. We’re still enjoying these books, although they teach mostly by example. Each word type the book is about is highlighted in the text, with a brief definition at the beginning of the book. Besides, the rhymes are fun.

For our women’s biography, we looked at Emily Dickinson’s life and poetry. I found a Poetry for Young Persons book on Emily Dickinson, and read a couple of poems out loud. Each kid also chose a poem to memorize.

And those are the books we used this week!
